The Serviceable Camera

Made:
1895 in Glasgow

The Serviceable camera. Albion Albumenizing Co. 1895. Made of mahognay with brass fittings it has the following features; double extension, tapered leather bellows, swing and reversing back and rising front. For use, the front panel is lowered and the lens standard is inserted into the brass rails on the base-board and tightened by two thumb screws. Focusing is by a rack and pinion mechanism. The back portion of the camera can be placed close to the front lens panel, thereby dispensing with the projecting base-board, which, with very wide angle lenses would cut off much of the picture. The base of the camera is cut out and a tripod top is built in in its place. It is made of brass, arranged in such a manner that it revolves freely, thus giving the advantage of changing the view without moving the tripod legs; it also makes it possible to fold the camera without having to remove the lens. A Rapid Rectilinear lens F:8, approx. 8 1/2 inch f.1 is mounted in front of a Thornton Pickard roller blind shutter. With three bookform double dark slides.
