Plaster copy of bust of Nefertiti, original Egyptian, 18th dynasty, c.1383-1365BC
This bust of Nefertiti is a copy of the one found in 1912, during an excavation at the Middle Egyptian site of Tell el-Amarna. The original is displayed at the Neues Museum in Berlin.
This bust has been reproduced on a large scale. This one was produced in 1928, 15 years after the first replica was produced and 4 years after the bust was first displayed at the Neues Museum. When you compare the two busts, you can see this version includes replicas of damaged parts of the original, such as the cobra. However, the missing inlay from the left eye was a retained feature.
