A cabinet card photographic portrait entitled 'The Guardian Angel', copied between 1868 and 1875 from the original large format albumen print taken by Julia Margaret Cameron (1815-1879) in 1868. Among the guardian angels in the Old Testament were the archangel Raphael and the archangel Michael. Cameron chose to use a female model for the role, using Hatty Campbell (born 1852) as sitter. The cream cabinet card, with gold border and facsimile caption, was unique to Julia Margaret Cameron.
