A cabinet card photographic portrait entitled 'The Guardian Angel', copied between 1868 and 1875 from the original large format albumen print taken by Julia Margaret Cameron (1815-1879) in 1868. The cream cabinet card, with gold border and facsimile caption, was unique to Julia Margaret Cameron.

Among the guardian angels in the Old Testament were the archangel Raphael and the archangel Michael. Cameron chose to use a female model for the role, using Hatty Campbell (born 1852) as sitter.
