'Sir John Herschel'
An albumen cabinet card photographic portrait entitled 'Sir John Herschel', copied in about 1872 from an original large format albumen print taken by Julia Margaret Cameron (1815-1879) in 1867.
Sir John Frederick William Herschel (1792-1871) was secretary of the Royal Society and President of the Royal Astronomical Society. Cameron considered Herschel a beloved friend and photographed him several times over the course of their long friendship.
