Newman Sinclair NS400 35\16mm cine camera with ancillary equipment, 1963-1966. Newman & Sinclair cine camera, model number NS400, Serial Number 1008; one magazine on camera, able to run reverse or forwards; 25mm f/2 Cooke Speed Panchrom lens, Series III, Serial Number 601180. Badged with plaque for 'Eyeline Film Facilities, 77 Dean Street, London W1, Regent 3391'.
This 35mm cine camera has a detachable 400' magazine and a three-lens turret. Electrically driven with speed set on a tachometer reading between 10 and 30 frames/second, the camera has a single claw mechanism and two register pins. The continuous drive mechanism is contained within the detachable magazines. The camera has a reflex viewfinder via a mirror shutter through the lens. The camera looks to be based on the Eclair Cameflex, though without the sophistication of the through-the-lens viewfinder. Few were manufactured and those were sold in the Britain, America and the Netherlands.
