Gas flow meter for domestic use, Baird and Tatlock, London, UK, early 1900s. This meter, of the kind used to monitor domestic gas flows, was repurposed by James Lovelock for experiments with sensitive chemical detectors at his home laboratory.
This domestic gas flow meter was amongst the equipment used by scientist and inventor James Lovelock at his home laboratory in Devon. It was used for experiments in his ‘Exponential Dilution Chamber’, the large space above his laboratory he used to test his sensitive chemical detectors, such as electron capture detectors.
