BBC OBA/9 Trap Valve Amplifier
- Made:
- 1952 in United Kingdom
BBC OBA/9 Trap valve amplifier, 1952, used by the BBC.
This is a cathode follower amplifier with two outputs that could feed a signal to both headphones and loudspeakers, for example. It was developed in the fifties as part of a suite of equipment – mixer, power supply, distribution unit etc. - that could fit together on a trolley, making it suitable for the needs of outside broadcast engineers. The OBA/9, was significantly smaller and lighter than its predecessor (the OBA/8), to help with portability.
