Marconi BD517C Microphone Amplifier Module, valve, 1961.

The original BD517 amplifiers date from 1951 - 1955. This improved version, the BD517C, was first manufactured in 1961 and would have been used in TV production/broadcast.

The Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company merged with EMI Ltd in 1934, and the BBC adopted the Marconi-EMI system for public television broadcast in 1936.
