EMI TR-90 Audio Tape Recorder (transportable), 1957-1962. Mono, valve machine.

It was designed to meet the requirement for a more transportable tape recorder. These machines were heavily used by the BBC, including at the Radiophonic Workshop until about 1970. An EMI sales brochure shows a huge bank of TR-90's at the BBC, all rack-mounted together. Each machine originally cost £625 in the late 1950s.
