- Made:
- 1970-1971 in unknown place

BBC EP11/1 Commentator-operated OB Equipment, manufactured by British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), 1970-1971. Mounted in a portable leather briefcase and contains all the necessary microphones, headphones, and interconnecting cables for use by a commentator on outside broadcasts. Full BBC number EP11/1/112.
This equipment can feed to Post Office lines or to a tape recorder. At certain times, such as Saturday afternoons or during international sporting events, the large number of radio commentaries required could make severe demands upon BBC outside broadcast engineering staff. This unit was designed to ease this situation by enabling a BBC radio commentator to handle an uncomplicated outside broadcast independently, with a consequent saving in the engineering effort required. Has a Sony AM/FM transistor radio built in.
