BBC Type 'D' Sound Desk

BBC Type 'D' sound desk, 1970. This is the last BBC Type 'D' continuity desk to be removed from service. It was installed in studio 1C. The Type D desk was built in both mono and stereo versions, with a range of different modules. The Type D continuity desks were unique to London Control Room. There were six, arranged in a semi-circle A to F. A was for Radio 4, B and C for Radio 1, D and E for Radio 2 and F for Radio 3. Studio C was famous for Tony Blackburn (midmorning), DLT (Dave Lee Travis) and David Hamilton as well as John Peel.
