Sound Sales (BBC AM8/1) loudspeaker amplifier. 15-watt valve amplifier, commercial design. Formed part of Outside Broadcast Loudspeaker LS3/1, but for ease of transport was kept as a separate self-contained unit instead of being mounted in the loudspeaker cabinet. Its performance and certain other features were specified by the BBC but otherwise its design and construction were left to the manufacturer. Models supplied to the BBC at different times by the same or different manufacturers were interchangeable but could differ slightly in design and construction. This amplifier was superseded by the BBC AM8/4 amplifier.
