STC 4037A dynamic long stick microphone, c.1961.
Long bodied version of the 4037C, designed in the 1950s, specifically for use in television, particularly as a hand-held reporter's microphone. The black shrivel enamel paint avoided reflection from studio lights and combined with the slim shape this made it neat and unobtrusive, and ideal for use in television studios and for interviews. It was nick-named “The Stick”.
This longer version of the microphone had better low frequency response than the shorter 4037C, due to a low frequency equalising tube in longer body. It was a little less discreet than the 4037C, but popular for recording vocals in the studio.
