Its "neat and unobtrusive appearance", made possible by the microphone's slim shape and black shrivel enamel paint, meant these omnidirectional microphones were considered ideal for use in television studios and for television interviewing. 4037C is the short-body version of the 4037, the main sonic difference being that the shorter one is slightly less sensitive at lower frequencies. This example has been modified by the BBC with a captive cable fitted with a connector for a portable Uher reel-to-reel audio tape recorder.
