This is a plano-convex diamond lens set in a gold tiepin, and almost certainly the first such ever made. Diamond lens, imperfectly cut, in gold mount, with chain, made by Andrew Pritchard, c. 1730, London.

N.B. Small separate disc with lens in Black and white photograph is believed to be 1927 - 377. (AW)
