Pressure Gradient Double (PGD) ribbon microphone No. 8, 1950-60.

Very high quality BBC designed microphones, they were BBC Research Department prototypes never put into commercial production. The PGD had a double magnet, making it more sensitive than the PGS microphone (which had a single magnet). The BBC used at least one PGD in Broadcasting House in the 1950s and 1960s. The PGS was later sold under licence by STC as the STC 4038.
