BBC BA10 Caption Scanner (part 1 of 2)
Slide scanner mechanical assembly. This, with item 103 made a single port flying spot slide scanner for 35mm slides. It takes 20, 35mm slides, but could only be changed when not "on air". Slides were loaded at the front so they were correct way round as you viewed them, they were then correct when they were in the scanning position. They then could be viewed full frame or offset, useful for a news background behind a newsreader, by moving a slider on the front. This slider also has a 16mm position in this mode the middle frame of a 3 frame section of 16mm film in a 35mm holder was scanned.
The complete unit fits in a standard 19" bay.
