Ampex VR-650 helical scan 2" video tape recorder, 1964. This professional unit was a bulky yet relatively transportable desk top video recorder at the time, using the then-standard Ampex 2" reel-to-reel video tape. It was also the first completely transistorised VTR made by Ampex, using early germanium transistors.
