Gretag Eidophor type ep21 television projector, Serial No. 260, 625 lines, c1962. These massive television projectors were used in cinemas; able to project large screen television images in monochrome or field-sequential colour. The Odeon Leicester Square, London was the only cinema in the world to purchase an Eidophor machine (just like this one) as a permanent installation. Most of the Eidophors were rented and remained the property of Gretag corporation. Eidophor large screen projectors were updated as new technology became available. In 1962 a brighter 2.5k xenon lamp was fitted to the ep21, and all future machines had this wattage or higher fitted. Xenon lamp removed. Regensdorf - Zurich.
