Lithograph, view of the London and Birmingham Railway when in course of construction by J. C. Bourne, published 1839. 'Woolverton Viaduct. August 1837’ [sic]. Foreground is grassy with rushes just beyond this suggesting the edge of the river. Trees to the right side of the image and mound of rocks in the shade of the trees. Viaduct in the middle ground is in construction with scaffolding under three of the six main arches. Workers just visible at right side of viaduct on the ground and on the top of the structure. Trees to the left of the viaduct with a hill in the background, trees and hills visible and possible farm building visible in the distances through the viaduct arches. More workmen atop the left side of the viaduct. Published as plate XXIV ‘West Side of the Viaduct Over the River Ouse, Near Wolverton. August 1837’, in ‘Drawings of the London and Birmingham Railway, by J. C. Bourne, with an historical and descriptive account by John Britton’, London : J. C. Bourne; Ackermann & Co.; C.
