Hand-painted glass lantern slide illustrating scene from 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' by Lewis Carroll. Illustrations by Sir John Tenniel, made by York and Son, published with permisssion of MacMillan and Co, 1870s. Slide number 26 shows The Mad Hatter's Tea Party, the White Rabbit and the Mad Hatter pushing the Dormouse into a teapot.
This lantern slide is one of a set illustrating Lewis Carroll's story, 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'. It and the rest of the set were projected in a magic lantern alongside the lanternist reciting the story for groups of people to enjoy.
