This slide illustrates part of the poem 'You are Old, Father William' , recited by Alice to the Caterpillar in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland:
' "You are old Father Willliam", the young man said,
"And your hair has become very white;
And yet you incessantly stand on your head -
Do you think, at your age, it is right?" '
