
A Self-Made African
A coloured lithograph of a caricature of journalist and MP Charles Sydney Goldman (1868-1968), drawn by 'Spy' - Sir Leslie Ward (1851-1922), entitled 'A Self-Made African', published in 'Vanity Fair' magazine in 1904.
Charles Goldman was a gold mining expert who was well known for his photographs of the Boer War. He is depicted here taking a photograph with a hand-held camera.
