3D printed architectural model for National Bank of Kuwait, by Foster and Partners, London, England, 2013

3D-printed models help architects and engineers show how buildings can be constructed and adapted to their location. Architects Foster + Partners developed this sail-like design reflecting the seafaring history of Kuwait City. A series of concrete fins provide structural support, and the curved structure gives the offices inside much-needed shade from the city’s high temperatures. Opened in July 2022, the National Bank of Kuwait is almost a thousand times the size of these models.
