This is an early example of a portable computer. The 'portable' referred to the fact that the case contained the entire computer, including a nine-inch screen and a keyboard. It did not, however, contain a battery or other power supply - the computer still needed to be plugged into the nearest power outlet. It was the first IBM PC compatible computer, meaning that it could use all the software made for IBM PCs, the leading brand at the time.
