Pilot 5000 electronic organiser, made by Palm Inc (subsidiary of US Robotics Corps), Singapore, 1996.

The Pilot 5000, made by Palm Inc, first went on sale in 1996. Featuring a calendar, a to-do list, memo and contacts applications, the Palm Pilot automatically synchronised the user’s data when connected to their computer. Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) grew in popularity throughout the 1990s and 2000s, and for many users offered a good alternative to paper-based organisers.
