'Mr Limpy’ is a brand of silicone prosthetic penis, also known as a ‘packer’, made by the American company Fleshlight. 'Packers', which may consist of a prosthetic penis and testicles, can be used to make male clothing fit correctly and create a masculine outward body shape.
This packer was donated by a young trans individual to represent an aspect of their gender transition experience, who was participating within a temporary exhibition at the Science Museum titled "What makes your gender?" in 2013, curated by a group of fifteen young transgender individuals working in partnership with the charity Gendered Intelligence. It was chosen as a way to express their gender identity, through exploring changes to the outward presentation of their body.
