Small cast iron shaping machine thought to be made around 1870. Six speed flat belt pulley driving thorugh bevil gears to a vertical shaft. Lower gears work the cross and circular feeds, while larger bevil at top drives the horizontal moving arm. Thought to have been built by one of the Ardwick machine tool builders, Manchester.

There is no maker’s name on the machine, but its design suggests that it may have been made in the Ardwick district of Manchester in the 1850-1890.
