Rotoscope. Ashdown rotoscope. A type of mechanical strobescope which was placed on a stand on help so the operator could look at moving machinery through it. Clockwork mechanism operated a revolving shutter which could be varied in speed. At the correct speed the machinery would appear stationary. Patent No 210656, 228577, instrument number 145, date 1928.
