‘Magnet’ model electric cooker. Made by the General Electric Company Ltd, around 1935.

A family in Hyde, Cheshire, bought this electric cooker in the 1930s and used it for more than 50 years. Some manufacturers suggested that electric ovens were more efficient than gas and made food taste better. The General Electric Company claimed their range of ovens provided ‘the most up-to-date and reliable form of cooking.’
