The monitoring of radiation in the workplace in the nuclear industry is essential. Gamma radiation is extremely dangerous as it can penetrate the body and cause damage to internal organs. Beta particles can penetrate several layers of skin, however the greatest dangers with beta particles is from swallowing or inhaling them. This meter would be used to monitor the workplace for gamma and beta contamination.
