The Daleks are one of the most iconic TV sci-fi villains and have appeared on Dr Who in varying evolutions since their introduction in 1963. They were created by Terry Nation, a Welsh screenwriter and novelist. The Dalek’s appearance was the creation of Raymond Cusick.
This is a Silver Dalek, a design which first appeared in ‘The Dalek Invasion of Earth’, a six part story featuring the first doctor which aired in 1964. The Silver Daleks continued to become one of the most common design variants until they were phased out in the 1970s. However, they have since reappeared in subsequent storylines.
