Sample of Apollo spacesuit material, made by ILC Industries Inc. Delaware, USA, 1968-1971.
This sample of Apollo spacesuit material is made from 18 thin layers of material, including the silver-coloured, aluminium-containing Mylar Film. Mylar was one of the fabrics used to make spacesuits for the astronauts of NASA’s Apollo space programme. This fabric protected astronauts from heat from the sun and from micrometeoroid impact on the lunar surface.
