Wet gas meter for two lights, made by West & Gregson, Oldham, 1871.

The business was established in 1830 as The Gas Meter Company by Thomas West. Later his two sons Robert and John ran the business and it was renamed West Brothers and Co. In about 1850, Henry Gregson joined them and the company was renamed West and Gregson. Shortly after this they exhibited a model of a meter for a gas works at the 1851 Great Exhibition.
