Medal Presented to John Alcock

Medal presented to John Alcock by the Royal Aero Club.

John Alcock piloted the first non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean with Arthur Whitten Brown as navigator. This pioneering flight was celebrated as a major milestone in the progress of aviation. Many organisations and places with links to the flight and the aviators celebrated and commemorated the achievement.

The Royal Aero Club officiated the attempt, stamping the wing of the aircraft with an official stamp to ensure that the same aircraft was used throughout the flight.

The Royal Aero Club awarded John Alcock this medal for the flight on 14-15th June 1919.
