No. 3A Folding Pocket Kodak camera, made by the Canadian Kodak Co. Ltd, Toronto, 1905 and used by John Alcock.
One of two unique souvenirs in our collection from the world’s first non-stop transatlantic flight, made by John Alcock and Arthur Whitten Brown in 1919. The pilots travelled from Newfoundland to Ireland in a Vickers Vimy bomber whose bomb carriers were replaced with extra fuel tanks and the crossing took 16 hours. Both men were knighted by King George V and treated as heroes for their groundbreaking achievement.
The other souvenir is ‘Lucky Jim’, Alcock’s cuddly toy cat mascot.
