Electric consumption meter, mercury motor, made by Sebastian Ziani de Ferranti in London, 1883, inscribed to front "FERRANTI PATENT ELECTRICITY METER NO 62 CAPACITY 10 CONSTANT 125.6", S. Z. de Ferranti introduced the first practical mercury meters, current flowing through a bath of mercury turns paddles, driving the wheels of the clock register.
