Slotting machine, made by Joseph Whitworth & Co., Manchester, c.1870.
J. Whitworth & Co. made this slotting machine between 1860 - 1880. It is a typical slotting machine from this period, with a high table and a boxy, vertical shape. The slotter was presented to the Museum in 1998 by the Atlas Works engineering company of Preston.
