Manual electristatic generator. Hand-held glass bulb containing mercury, 1920-1940.

This hand-held friction demonstration device with glass bulbs containing mercury was made in the middle of the twentieth century, the maker is unknown. Patent no. 391865 was given for these machines on November 7th 1931 and is for the glass bulb containing mercury which produces an electrical discharge as a result of friction created by manual agitation of the container.
