Guillotine manufactured by W. Crosland in Bredbury in 1911 and used by Allsops, a Manchester pattern book maker, for cutting paper and fabric swatches for textile pattern books.
This industrial guillotine made in Bredbury, near Stockport, in 1911, was used by Allsops of Manchester, who produced pattern books for the textiles trade. Pattern books contain small swatches of fabric and are used by textiles manufacturers to keep a record the goods they made, as well as by merchants to market their products for sale.
