Lancashire Coal Mining Collection transferred from Salford Museum and Art Gallery, including archive material comprising of 36 boxes of material including mining disaster ephemera, NUM branch records, personal memorabilia, photographs, minutes, reports, leaflets, correspondence, poems, certificates, pay tickets, slides, remembrance cards, memoirs, rule books, posters, newspaper cuttings, 7"record, college notes, drawings and maps relating to coal mining within the Lancashire region. The archive reflects donations by individual members of the public who used to work in the mines or had relatives employed in the coal mining industry. The archive also includes some administrative records of the Lancashire Coal Mining Museum at Buile Hill.
