Touring bicycle made by Johnny Berry, Manchester, 1973. Serial number 731897.

From Pedal Power exhibition: Johnny Berry made more than 1,300 bicycles in his career. His bikes were in high demand and clients included World Champion, Reg Harris. Customers had to join a two year waiting list to get their hands on one of his prestigious machines.

Johnny Berry was the team mechanic at the 1948 Olympic Games, and a Manchester frame-builder of great national and international reputation. He was an avid cyclist and an active member of the Manchester Wheelers. His shop was a well-known sight in Rusholme where for 28 years where Berry built and refined his bike designs in the workshop at the back.
