Set of drawing instruments sold by AG Thornton Ltd, Manchester, and used by a draughtsman for the Lancashire Steel Company, 1910.

This set of c.1910 drawing instruments is typical of the sort of tools that designers would have used for draughting technical drawings in the 19th and 20th centuries.

This particular set of compasses was used by a designer at the Lancashire Steel Company in Warrington. It was supplied by AG Thornton, a Manchester based supplier of drawing instruments, slide rules and surveying equipment.
