Set of drawing instruments made by A. G. Thornton Ltd, Manchester, and used by a student architect.

This set of 1960s drawing instruments, including several sets of compasses and dividers, is typical of the sorts of instruments used by draughtsmen/women and architects throughout the 20th century for doing design drawings. This particular set was gifted to an architecture student in 1963 after completing their A-level exams. It was supplied by AG Thornton, a Manchester based supplier of drawing instruments, slide rules and surveying equipment.
