Empty plastic bobbin for use on a ribbon loom

This small plastic bobbin with flanged ends would have been used in a ribbon loom shuttle. Inserted into a shuttle, the thread would unwind from the bobbin as it passed across the carriage, laying the weft thread of the ribbon.

Once the thread had been used, the bobbin could be rewound and reused.
