Four white glazed ceramic spindle cups.

These spindle cups were used in textile industry machinery to hold the tip of the thread-loaded spindle, allowing it to rotate without becoming displaced.

For productivity it was important to prevent machinery stoppage for such things as realigning spindles.

Glazed ceramics were used as they have a strong, smooth surface, causing little loss in rotational speeds.
