Gas meter made by J. & J. Braddock, Globe Meter Works, Oldham; used at St Thomas' church, Oldham.
This gas meter was used at St. Thomas' Church in Oldham. It was installed in the church basement around 1882. It metered gas for lighting and an engine. The gas engine drove bellows for the church organ. In 1905, the gas engine was replaced by an electric motor, and the church was converted to electric lighting.
