This lamp was designed to give out infra-red heat plus ultra-violet light. The combined effect was intended to cure aches and pains and generally revitalise the user. Since the earliest days of electricity, devices have been created with health claims in mind. Ultra-violet was particularly in fashion between 1920 - 1940. The streamlined circular design of the heater is in the style of the 1930s. The cream colour suggests cleanliness and hygiene.
