Walglow vertical 1-bar electric fire. Chrome-fronted single bar vertical electric fire with carrying handle to top, and cast iron base.

Part of the Bob Gray collection of electrical objects.

Electric fires like this were used in spring and autumn when a fire was not needed all morning or evening. They were also used for temporary heating in bedrooms when awakening or just before or after going to bed. Being portable, the fire could be moved from place to place as needed. Its shiny chrome front and geometric base were influenced by the fashionable styles of the 1920s and 1930s.
