Clix foot operated 3 pin 15A socket. Made about 1950s.
Part of the Bob Gray collection of electrical objects.
At the time it was made most sockets were fitted close to, or in, the skirting board. It features a foot pedal to remove the need for bending down when switching on electrical appliances. This type of effort-saving device served the luxury end of the domestic market. It was expensively constructed. It was also expensive to fit as it was a flush-fitting device.
